LAMDA - The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (Londyńska Akademia Muzyki i Sztuk Dramatycznych) czyli jedna z najstarszych i najbardziej szanowanych uczelni na świecie, założona w Zjednoczonym Królestwie w 1861.
Ukończyło ją wielu znanych i uznanych artystów, na przykład: David Suchet (słynny detektyw Hercules Poirot), Donald Sutherland, Jim Broadbent (profesor Horacy Slughorn z opowieści o Harrym Potterze), Chiwetel Ejiofor czy Benedict Cumberbatch.

W 2002 roku władze LAMDA podjęły decyzję, żeby przenieść ich szkołę i teatr do nowego miejsca w Hammersmith, w West London. Zakupiono miejsce, gdzie znajdowała się stara siedziba Royal Ballet School, wciśnięta pomiędzy sześciotorową autostradą a linią kolejową.
Do współpracy z LAMDA zaproszeni zostali architekci z pracowni Níall McLaughlin.
W marcu 2009 roku zostało wydane pozwolenie na budowę nowej siedziby Akademii przy Talgarth Road.
Dwa lata później zostaje sprzedany stary budynek uczelni, dzięki czemu prace prowadzące do realizacji nowego ambitnego celu mogą się toczyć.
W sierpniu 2013 roku Benedict Cumberbatch, absolwent tej renomowanej szkoły, zostaje patronem akcji ActNow! dzięki której wspierana będzie finansowo przebudowa nowej siedziby. W listopadzie tego samego roku dzięki uprzejmości dyrektora National Theatre Nicholasa Hytnera ActNow! rusza na deskach teatru.
W lutym 2014 roku zostaje ukończony projekt budynku, a w marcu zostaje ogłoszony przetarg na realizację. Jesienią rozpoczyna się budowa.
W czerwcu 2015 roku projekt nowego budynku zostaje doceniony i znajduje się na dwóch listach obiektów do wyróżnienia nagrodą New London Architecture w kategorii obiekt edukacji i nagroda burmistrza miasta.
W następnych dwóch latach budowa trwa, by początkiem tego roku została zakończona, a w pełni wyposażony obiekt został udostępniony do użytkowania studentom i nauczycielom.
I jak napisano na stronie Building 4 Education (budowanie dla edukacji) ukończenie inwestycji nie byłoby możliwe, gdyby nie wsparcie akcji Act Now!
LAMDA uniosła kurtynę, budynek jest otwarty!
